Alesia,  Attaching the clip to one of the tangs on the ring that holds the 
whole thing in worked for me as well (Matt's solution).  I also used a large 
guage female clip once that I attached to the ground wire and just slipped onto 
one of the tangs without other mechanical fasteners.  Because it was out of the 
way it never got disturbed and never gave me any trouble.
