Hi Matt !,
    No more leaded gas since 12 or 13 years ago. Actually, the normal exhaust deposits are dark grey, at least on all family cars, Corvairs included. Finger testing is not an accurate way but, the fastest !

<<It all makes sense to me!   Does Mexico still have Lead in their gas?

Here in the US  the tailpipes are always BLACK  now....but your finger test 
is valid still..
