O.K.   So far I've kept my comments on this thread off-list and only to those 
who've already chimed in but now I can't help myself.  My first car was a 
Renault Caravelle and I've also owned a LM convertible although I'm now an early 
kinda guy.  I'll grant that the LM styling is timeless, something that perhaps 
can't be said of the Caravelle but I'm rather fond of the Caravelle's 
styling.  I certainly wouldn't call it "ugly."  Renault contracted with Ghia for the 
design although Frua of Italy also took credit.  Virgil Exner's son, Virgil 
Exner, Jr., even had a hand in it.  It's styling was thought to have influenced 
the Amphicar and its side body scoop was thought to have influenced the 
Mustang's.  An interesting Caravelle history, delving into its styling, can be read

One writer is quoted as describing Caravelles with their rear-engine and 
swing axles as "distinctly dodgy handlers."  Hmmm....!  Might that qualify as 
Corvair content?
