By the way, I have seen lots of grey sludge in oil pans, and that is lead.
But I have never seen this in a gas tank. Given that TEL is moderately volatile,
doesn't break down unless you burn it, etc., and is in small concentrations
in gasoline, I suspect that 'sludge' in the tank is something else, like dirty
gas, the stuff they use to test underground tanks for water, or some other
junk. But it's not likely to be lead.
