<VV> masking and paint

Yes, mask as you need, but ONLY use the blue painter's
tape. It is made specifically for painting and will
peel off easily even if it has been on for awhile. It
also gives a cleaner edge and has a little give,
allowing you to (within limits) stretch thinner widths
slightly to go around a curve. 
Other advice to mask just befor you paint is good
advice as well. It gives you a chance to address
anything unwanted that ends uo on the surface.
