Hello,
My brother builds custom guitars, they are just starting to get into the  big 
name stores.  And he does say that a left-handed guitar is basically a  
mirror image of a right-handed, but to just turn a right handed over and  restring 
is always a possibility but then the control pots and switches can  get in the 
way.  A right handed or left handed guitar costs him the same  since his are 
all handmade, where as, the big outfits must change their jigs and  machines 
to make leftys.
