I disagree, just because one misspells a word or two they are not illiterate. Some old maid school teachers who believe that spelling makes the man need to get a life.
Twenty seven years ago General Dynamics had a policy of sending newly hired engineering graduates to a week long class on effective written communication. A corporation doesn't do this out of the kindness of their heart. This was when there was extensive use of secretaries who probably knew more about the subjects they were typing than the authors.
With the advent of the computer the typist has all but disappeared and now most low level professionals do their own typing. This has required forced learning. Upper level managers may still be illiterate.
Email, in the case of this forum is informal and meant to be a communication between persons/friends of like interests. Not a study in proper grammar.
Please excuse the mistakes and the venting.
