I've done it...  when I could get away with twisting the PCV plumbing 
around.   It's actually a good idea to point the snout into an area where 
it can pick up cooler air, especially in summertime.


This car doesn't look that bad.   The floors have surface rust but it's 
surface rust.   I saw no holes.   In fact, the body doesn't look that 
bad.    Not high mileage, looks like it could be saved with not a huge 
amount of work.    Unfortunately, such cars almost always end up on the 
other side of the continent from me.


If the engine is any good, that alone is worth the starting bid asking 
price.
