Dan:

Replace the metal brake lines.  One goes over the heater box.

Strip and repaint the engine compartment housing.  Use POR-15 carefully on any rust.  If you're not a purist, use primer then Armorpoxy (www.armorpoxy.com) for a very tough topcoat.

I did all this last time I had my powertrain out, and it was a good use of time.
