It always amazes me how these simple things were overlooked by the masses....

A simple   "canister" [ GM used 3lb.  Coffee cans in Cads / Olds] to STORE 
vacuum took care of this problem..

Later years cars had  2 section fuel pumps...one was for vacuum.......once 
again on Cads / Olds, etc.....

As kids...we always used a $1.79, 6 volt electric fuel pump from Pep Boys to 
boost vacuum....
