In several of my 'vairs I just use a threaded pipe extension to raise
the area of the oil sender unit above the alternator area etc. Put a tee
on the end and then you can keep the idiot light for early warning and
use the other side of the tee for the oil pressure sender.
It looks ugly? Then chrome plate / paint the pipe and tee!

And if you are into real stock type stuff, pick up the chrome fitting that
Chevy used for the Turbos. That fitting spaces the stock pressure switch up
about an inch and tilts it forward. It also provides a female SAE inverted flare
for you to add a tube to feed the sender for your gauge. I like to remote
the sender and anchor it down somewhere away from the fan belt, but still on
the motor. That way it mostly moves with the motor, and still lets you change a
fan belt easily. Also BIG news - If you are tempted to go with mechanical
gauges because you like the full 270 degree sweep displays and dislike the 90
degree sweep displays, there are new 270 degree sweep gauges coming to the
market. As soon as I have more info, I'll pass it along! - Seth Emerson
