Anyhow, if you used a true electronic ignition, like a GM HEI setup, etc., 
they don't care if the key is left on. The coil is only juiced if there's a 
signal from the pickup.

I have been threatning to use a micro controller to "look" and see if the 
engine is runnig or not and if not after so many seconds kill power to the coil 
to save the points.  One of those many 'pending projects'.
