This is a reminder to everyone that CORSA South Carolina's famous,
annual autocross, "Corvairs in the Curves XV", is this Sunday, the
26th. The rain date is a week later. We are excited about this event!
Here are some of the things that have happened that have caused this:

We have received the support of a major sponsor, "Kevin Whitaker
Chevrolet", here in Greenville. Kevin is a real car nut and owns two
Corvairs. His financial support has eased our concerns in this area.
Kevin has new Corvettes available now! He also has such things as an
original '65 Z-16 Chevelle with electric windows, a Cosworth Vega, and
more, in his showrooms.

Ed Kelly, one of our members, has made five beautiful "found art"
trophies for the event. These are made from Corvair parts and mounted
on a wooden base. They are quite something! They are as follows:

3 made from cylinder head slices.
1 lamp made from a cam and cam gear
1 lamp made from a cutaway view of cylinder/piston assembly

No one will get more than one of these. They will be given for: 1. FTD
2. Fastest IS/SM-type Corvair 3. Fastest "stock" type Corvair. If we
have several women drivers, as we are expecting, we'll probably give
one to the "Fastest Female". Finally, if there are several early-models
(there usually aren't) we may give the fifth trophy to the "Fastest
Early-Model". Right now, I'm leaning toward having a "Drivers' Choice"
award. Each driver will get a ballot and vote for their favorite car,
based on their own criteria. But remember, no more than one per driver!

Clark's Corvair Parts has kindly sent the following prizes for us to
award.

1-Clark's fan belt
1-Clark's mug
1-Chevrolet bean bad bear
1-set, silicone valve cover gaskets
1-coozie
1-2XL Clark's T shirt
5-$10 Clark's gift certs

Finally, the good folks at Michelin (Michelin North America's
headquarters in here) have donated, again for prizes:

1. Several hats.
2. A couple of genuine Swiss Army Knives.
3. A Michelin wind breaker.
4. A couple of Michelin car deodorizers that Bibendum bobbles on a tire.
5. A mini Michelin road atlas that is very good.
6. Two Michelin insulated metal mugs.

I think we'll give these prizes out raffle-style, that is, each driver
will have their name put in a hat. Names will be drawn periodically and
the winner will get their pick of the prizes! Everyone should get
something!

We will have our President and CORSA National Autocross Champion, Tony
Ellison, with "the purple car" putting on a real show for everyone.

Joe Christ will be competing with his beautiful, yellow, Corvair
powered Lola. Built by Seth Emerson, this is one of the fastest Corvair
powered cars ever built. How much fun can a 70+ year old man stand???

We are expecting several cars from out-of town including, David
Clemens' SM car from Virginia, coming to battle with Tony Ellison and
myself; Chuck Armer and Scott Trunkhill's "Where's the Beef Racing"
Corvair from Atlanta, and maybe something from the hills of
Blackmountain North Carolina driven by Bill Prichard, and others!

If you'd like a complete flyer with directions emailed to you, let me
know. Just remember..........

On September 26th.....

ALL ROADS LEAD TO THE CURVES!!!
