Well, as usual, I had to do this on my own. I UNLOADED the drive train by my
self. I had to clean up the "junk yard" in back of Mom's place. It's a catch
all small yard where we dump all the old, ripped out project stuff, and can
get very filled up sometimes. My Mom started remodeling in 1959 and has not
stopped yet! I spent 3 hours cleaning and putting things in order. Now I had
room to work. Pulled the van around headed east, tied the drivetrain to a pole
in the alley, and pulled it out till it was just about to go down. Some idiot
from one of the electric companys was coming down the alley, yes, we have 2,
it's good, low rates, so I had to move. Lucky that the guy across from me,
removed the fence, so I could pull south, and let the guy by,and then back in
straight to the gate. I had an old counter top, about 8 feet long, 2 feet
wide, put it under the 4 x 4 and pulled it by hand, till it tilted down on the
countertop. The plywood would not fit through the gate, so the DT slid off it
and down to the countertop and slid very nicely to the concrete. Now, I take
the 4 x 4 and put it where I want the DT to be. Got Big Bertha, my 6ft tamping
rod, and it would lift it by its own weight, so I could pull it on to the 4 x
4, and position it where I wanted. Just a bit at a time, but it worked. I
will build a tiny shed all it's own from what is there. Sides, top, weather
proof, and the best thing, Mom came out and was very pleased with the out
come, and never even knew it was back there. Covered it with an old comforter
for now, can't see it. That freed up the van so I could clean out the carport
and put the seat, and all the other stuff back it the van, so all is well. My
Life is Hell, but I go on. I got Corvairs to rebuild! Another Corvair Odessy
finished, for now. Can't wait to start tearing it down, and see what I've got.
Thanks BRUCE
