<VV> CHT data calibrate

In the words of Mr. Spock, Interesting! IMHO, the value of a gauge is
in your 'vair's normal trends VS conditions. I guess you can call that
"baseline", so calibrating the CHT is secondary. 325 VS 350 degrees F
VS 475 to 500. Heck, +/- 25 degrees aside , I'm already asking why my
car is above 400! It's the delta, not the actual! Yes, I am a EE.
This may sound hypocritical, but I find the OEM dash temp fine for me as
I know where the little needle "normally" sits.
It really has to do with what you're "into", I guess. My thing
is fuel economy/performance. Others want to know cause and effect and
precise engine temperatures. My 'Vair is my tinker toy! Enjoy!!

As an engineer, you should know the value of an initial baseline. I'm
in the process of installing CHT gauges on both sides, but I have no
idea whether my engine is currently running normal temps or excessively
hot.
Therefore, I'd really like to have an initial benchmark that's
reasonably close to actual. After that I agree that relative readings
are fine.

So, Frank, you're driving down the road and you look down and your CHT
gauge is reading 327 degrees. What are you going to do with this
information that couldn't be gotten from "Gee, it's a needle width
higher than it was last week."
This is not to say that I didn't calibrate my VDO gauges in boiling
water to see what the assumed reference junction temperature was,
because I did. I am, after all, an anal engineer who likes to know
useless things. ;-)
