just check the car like you would any newer car ..carefully, carry a few 
basic tools and a belt, maybe a qt of oil and tranny fluid,.  jump on brakes hard, 
check lights, steering linkage etc.  basicly a good safety inspection.  i am 
leaving on a trip at noon with the 63 rampy automatic that could end up being 
about a thousand miles or more this week. last week it was 450 miles to lake 
placid and back with no troubles. yes i carry an axle and distrib with me and a 
good spare tire.(with jack and lug wrench and gloves)  turn off the flippin
