The first sound from the '62 rampside in over 5 years was made yesterday
afternoon! A new engine harness was installed. A borrowed battery was
hooked up and the horn was sounded. Upon the sound of the horn in the
garage I instantly had two little helpers wanting to "test" the horn. My
two daughters, 6 and 4 years old, both climbed in the rampy and tested the
horn out. The headlights, wipers (once I turned the key on), left turn
signal, and left tail light all worked. There was no radio, fan, or right
tail/turn signal. This will all have to be checked out to see what is
wrong. I think I might have borrowed the taillight from the right side for
my trailer one night. My two daughters were excited and wanted to take it
for a drive (still not ready to run). Does the turn signal in front also
double as a marker light or just turn signal?
I still need to get the carbs assembled, engine sheet metal, brake
lines, rear brake cylinders, and gas tank done. All will have to wait until
I have more time. Number 3 daughter is overdue now and then we will have
the adoption of her to go through before any further work is done.
Was great to hear a Corvair horn! Next the purr of the motor.
