<VV> Wheel Stud Torque

I notice that some allow wheels "loosen" up-actually the wheel nut loosens
up overnight, for example. Lately I have been using 80 ft lbs and it sounds
like this is way too high, even for competition use.

Yup. I've always torqued my lug nuts to 55 pounds. The '67 supplement
says 60 pounds. Some have refused to believe this was enough but
that's what the manuals say. I always use a good torque wrench and a
star pattern. I use this on steel wheels or my IROC wheels. Some have
told me I need more with alloy wheels, but the stud and nut are still
the same. ____________________________
