<VV> Late model front shocks

I have in my notes that a 55-57 Chevy and 72 Cad Eldorado will fit but
beware of the bottom tube!  I recently had a pair of Sears shocks that had
the same number but weren't identical!  One fit fine and the other had a
7/16 I.D. tube on the bottom for a 1/2 bolt.
I had to scrounge up a long 7/16 bolt to fit and then found the tube was
also too short and I had to put two washers between the tube and the A-arm
to take up the distance.  It all worked out in the end but sometimes it gets
ya down!
