We got the engine out of the car today and split the block into its
two halves. The #3 rod bearing was cereal box carton thin and only
half of it could be found. The other bearings, rod and mains, will
have to be replaced. We took off the right side head and removed
piston #3 in order to have the rod journal resized. It looks like I'll
have to replace the 12 fin oil cooler unless someone knows a way to
flush it free of possible metal shavings to a 99.9999% certainty.
We are also going to have the crank reground. I'll keep the group
informed as I know things. We were able to do all of this in about
four hours.

My garage is now starting to look like the original Corvairium, my
dad's 20x30 corrugated tin garage/workshop in Abilene, Tx. I still
have pictures of the walls lined with parts.
