I have found that spackle paint for the trunk needs to have an underlaying
primer underneath it as the coverage is poor. I use gray primer sealer for a
base on the gray spackle and black primer sealer for the black spackle
trunk.

Still, once there is rust in the trunk it may eventually come back.
