i remember a guy driving into our garage in the 70's with  rear skid plate 
ground off after driving about 15 miles from work on the thruway with the engine 
dragging(he complained of hard shifting etc).  actually as i remember it the 
damage was not that much.    check all them there cotter pins!    the van from 
hell i just finished had all three motor mount nuts finger tight, but they 
did put cotter pins on .   regards tim colson
