I bet it is worse here - average price 0.83 GBP (that's $1.50) per
LITER!!!!! That's exactly $6 per US gallon (4 liters).

With luck there will be a repeat of the protests of 2000 against Tony Blair,
who is in any case very unpopular at the moment because of Iraq.

Mind you, I don't understand why they don't seek to solve the fuel supply
problem AND (allegedly!) global warming both at the same time, by
investing in the production of biodiesel and bioethanol.

Perhaps someone does know why govts aren't doing that. The cynic in
me says that, here at least, it is because it would cut off their revenue
stream in the form of fuel taxation, because you can hardly tax clean,
carbon-neutral, sustainable fuel!!

Surely the cynic in me must be wrong...?
