All --
With the convention autocross just a few weeks away, i'm unloading some of my
unnecessary racing stuff, and i thought i'd give you corvair folks a shot at
it before it all goes up on eBay.
Today i'm offering a very nice set of four American Racing Torq-Thrust
aluminum wheels, in the no-longer-produced size of 14x7". their condition is
somewhere between very good and excellent, with only a couple of very minor curb
scuffs and one or two broken center cap screws.
i have masked the rims, blasted and painted the spokes, then polished the
rims by mounting them on the rear of the car and letting the engine idle with the
tranny in third gear, and using successively finer grits of sandpaper from
220 to 400, then finishing off with a '00' steel wool. the rims have a satin
finish and are very smooth thanks to this process. these wheels have brand
new steel valve stems installed in march of '04.
anyway, i will take $500 for the four wheels.
-- OR --
i also have six Hoosier DOT-legal "shadow tread" autocross / road-race tires,
size P225/50zr14. they have a ton of rubber left on them, and have not been
flat-spotted. three are the older S02 designation, and three are the newer
S03 designation. i used two of each on the car at the Grassroots Motorsports
$2004 Challenge, and they gripped very well after being scuffed in on the
first run.
for $600, you can have the four Torq-Thrust wheels with the four tires which
i used at the challenge, mounted and (if you wish) balanced. also included
will be the two tires that i didn't use at the challenge. they appear to be
in the same condition as the tires that i did use, minus the recent tread
scuffing.
if pre-paid, i will deliver within 100 miles of detroit, or you could have
someone pick them up here in Plymouth MI and bring them to the convention for
you.

and the tires (on a different set of torq-thrust wanna-be's) can be seen at:

neither of these pix is focused in on the wheels and tires, so please feel
free to request better pix. in fact, i'll just go out to the garage and take a
few, and post 'em to the "crown details" album on my webshots homepage:

thanks for the bandwidth.
