I think hardware-store caulk is just about the best for this application.
You might get a better seal with 3M Strip-Calk (sold in boxes at auto and
body supply stores), but the stuff is messier and stickier and a lot harder
to work with when removing the kick panel. Congratulations on 39 leak-free
years.

I generally use hardware store caulk cord to seal the
kick panel vent duct. It works ok.
This rainy day, my 65 sprang a leak. Since I'm out
of the caulk cord, what are recommendations for a
better-or-best sealer? The seal failure is original
1965, which has never been removed. Thanks. -ron 65,66
