This tells me that it's the actual key to starter circuit I was trying to explain. You can jumper over from the
positive side of the battery (or the big red wire) to the large purple wire (in the two wire connector) at the left
front of the engine compartment. That bypasses the key-starter circuit and will work like a remote starter.
You still have to have the ignition on as you describe.
I hooked up an aftermarket horn button ($4) between these two points to serve as my semipermanent
remote starter switch. (The race car has a much nicer hi-amp momentary switch in the firewall... I will
eventually install something like that.)
