Hi JR,
The failure mechanism is the classic "broken white plastic door latch 
piece".  While it is not too time consuming to place down and check, my 
money is on the broken piece and putting it down will NOT cure this 
failure.  Try the brute force approach and see if it works.  Just make sure 
the guy doing the brute force stuff understands he should not press hard 
enough to bend the door.  A wooden block and blanket is usually recommended 
for this approach.
