Greetings all. I'm Roger Jennings from Northern Kentucky and I will respond to
the question about a motel by the Mountain Park Dragway in Clay City,
Kentucky. I first met Brian O' Neill, Billy Bruce, Dan Giannotti and the
others at the Carlisle convention. When I learned of the plans to incorporate
a drag strip event in close proximity to the Lexington convention, I jumped at
the opportunity to help. After researching, the best choice was pretty clear.
It was Clay City's Mountain Park Dragway. Greg Scarboro and I scoped it out.
Not fancy, even maybe a bit rustic but a NICE, big track. Long story short,
it is happening and we're pretty jazzed about it. These people are good ol'
boys and they made us feel welcome. They want us to come and have a good
time!
Anyway You know the rate for the Hyatt is $99.00 a day and I hope all you
folks have your reservations for Tuesday 6-15 thru Saturday 6-19. The Hyatt is
booked up now. The Radisson is just next door (and connected by an overhead
walkway) They probably have some rooms left. If you are coming for the
convention's events like the Autocross, Concours.Economy Run, etc, the Hyatt
and the Radisson are really, really close (100 feet)

However if you are coming to the drag race event, you may want to stay
closer than the 40-45 minute drive from Lexington. And you may want to arrive
earlier and cheaper rates may have appeal. Five minutes from the track
(directly off the interstate exit is the Clay City Inn. phone 606-663-6353. I
spoke to Robin yesterday and they have a small number (she said EIGHT) of
available rooms for 6-13,6-14,and 6-15. The rate is 45.00 for a single room
with a double bed and 55.00 for two double beds. There are others. Mount
Sterling is 15 minutes from Clay City and they have the typical Holiday Inn
etc. As for me, I would go for the local Clay City Inn( much like a Motel6).
I'm sure it is spartan compared to the Lexington Hyatt. And of course you
could camp. Call Mountain Park Dragway at 606-663-0369 to clear it with the
boys. They have lots of space. I am in charge of the indoor vending in the
ballroom of the Hyatt so, I will be busy. Come by and say hello if I miss you
at the track. Just ask if I can clear up any questions. Roger

The distance to the Lexington hotel is in the 30-40 mile range (I don't
know it exactly) and the plan right now is to simply use the convention
hotel as the hotel of choice. Right now, the NECC has no plans to
recommend a different hotel for Sunday night. It is my understanding that
the convention hotel will honor the convention rate for that Sunday night,
but it is best to confirm this with the hotel when making your reservation.
Perhaps Greg Scarboro of the convention committee will be able to shed more
light on the matter.
