Bummer Hank....but do not despair.....inspect 1st!

Once had a knock...rod NUT  had fallen off..hitting cam lobe..drove me 
nuts.....bent other rodbolt!    I fished the nut out....vice gripped the cap back 
together...re-torqued all rods...ran forever!  in a dune buggy...constant 6000 
rpm!

Yes it was a Newly rebuilt engine.....buggy had rolled and scared the 
guy....so I took advantage of his weakened condition....gggg

Also have seen 2 new engines eat the 1st set of rod / main bearings, but 2nd 
set lasted forever...
