Seth: People are always asking me about fitting IROC wheels and
different size tires. You had 225/50-16's on front of your old autoX
car. How did they fit in front? Did you use the "rear" wheels? Where
did you trim the fenders?

I used Rears all around - The Junkyards had plenty of them. The fronts were
usually broken when the "Young-uns" understeered off the road and into the
lightpoles! The rears are "deeper" (less backspace). The 225-50-16s were a very
tight fit - of course, the car was lowered a bit too. All four fenders were
trimmed to allow clearance. I used the "hack-saw radially every 3/4 inch, and bend
up" method. It retains the original tack welds. If done carefully, it won't
show on the outside. I have seen several cars with the back-to-front IROC wheel
swap. I believe that will work as well. I think I would limit tires for the
street to a 205-55-16. That has the same height as the 225-50 but a little
narrower. There are variations between makes as well. The old BFG TA R1s I used
had quite a shoulder. Many of the newer tires are more rounded. - Seth
