Seat beltsd were actually available in the 50's as an option on quite a few
vehicles.
They were not a popular option as the manufacturers beleived if they put
them on a car, people would think the car was "unsafe".

My 62 Valiant has dealer installed MOPAR seatbelts, paperwork still in
glovebox. For those of you that don't know MOPAR stands for MOtor PARts,
which was chryslers parts division.
