For long trips I do indeed carry a spare axle and bearing (early model &
FC, late models are a different story), AND the puller necessary to remove
the yoke flange.  I've never had to use either, but I figure it's
insurance, as in Reverse Murphy's Law.

Long trips only, though.  The shortest trip on which I have carried this
item was 1600 miles round-trip.
