<VV> engine start-up

Well,I am almost ready to install my 102h.p. engine into my 1966 Monza.But before I do I was thinking how much easier it would be to start it on the ground and iron out any problems that my arise after I install it.I purchased the engine used from Larrys and was told that it had been overhauled.Is this starting the engine outside of the car a smart idea and is it very difficult to accomplish?
