A note of caution here for the newbies. While this will probably solve the
problem of oil coming out the dipstick, that extension into the crankcase was
put there by Chevrolet for a purpose. The reason it is there is to prevent
blowby within the crankcase from being released into the engine compartment where
the heater can pick it up (thru the engine fan) and allow it to enter the
passenger compartment! Blowby contains carbon monoxide! The oil level in the pan
encloses this tube extension and prevents the blowby from rising up the tube.
