I just rebuilt the heater box in my 66 Corsa. I am still trying to figure out
what is the best arrangement for the plumbing.
The way the damper doors are set up, if you position the heater for max heat,
it will give hot air. Medium position gives a mix of warm air from the lower
shrouds, and the cool air from the top shroud. But if I look at the heater box
and move the large damper all the way for cool top shroud air, there is
another damper that shuts the cool air off completely, so the fan will run
without any incoming air. I don't have the controls in the car to see if they
will put the heater box into complete cool air mode, perhaps they wont go this
far, but it still puzzles me as to why they would allow for this adjustment,
then block the cool air off anyway.
I am leaning towards the idea of cool engine compartment air, not air from the
cool side of the shroud. But a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
