Smitty says: When you have an engine that will start but not run always
suspect the resistor wire going to the coil. Either that or the
switching arangement in the end of the solenoid. Engine starts when
running on the solid wire to the coil which actually jumpers or by-passes
the resistor wire. You release the key switch and it springs back to the
run position which is supposed to energise the coil with reduced voltage
through the resistor.
