<VV> '66 trans question

Last summer I replaced the 4-speed in my '66 Corsa because it was noisy in
first and reverse.  AeroNed came by the shop today and opened up the case for
a rebuild.  The cause of the noise was quite evident, the reverse idler gear
had a bunch of chewed up teeth . . . the rest of the tranny looks great.  I
have a rebuild kit, but will need to replace the gear, I also have a couple of
Vega 4-speeds . . . could I steal the gear from one of them?
