Not an expert and have never owned an Optima... but have heard NOTHING but good reports. Consistently. And that's unusual for most products.

Both the Mini group and the Allante group (in the Allante the battery is in the passenger compartment) gurus strongly suggest Optima as the battery of 
choice for both applications.

Only negative I've ever heard is the cost.
