The ideal way to do this is via scanning the original MP film, but motion
picture film scanners are few and far between and expensive, and not
usually seen outside major video/film production houses.
I agree that this is THE way to go, far as a decent transfer to consumer
media is concerned. But it's gonna cost ya... at least initially, up
front. It requires some relatively sophisticated hardware... the scanner,
digital video tape to store the master, and then disk production
facilities. Then again if it's to be done on a limited scale, a home DVD
burner could well work out nicely IF you have a good source, such as that
aforementioned digital video tape.
Anybody in here work in a production house...?
