<VV> How do I find the history of my car?

With my renovation making good progress and within a few months of being 
complete, it occurred to me that previous owners may be interested in 
seeing how it has come together.  My first thought was to run a report 
on carfax, but carfax (and similar services) will not look at vehicles 
older than 1981.  How do I go about tracing the title history of my 
corvair so that I might contact the previous owners to share the 
restoration with them?
