Hi Ron,
The simpliest way (AND least expensive!) is to take a connical plastic end off a tube of RTV.  Cut it down so that it just fits on the end of the metal part and can guide the replacement cut gently up the connical part to where it belongs.  Remember that water is a lubricant for rubber.  With that it can be pretty easy.  I have a huge fishing tackle box dedicated solely to carb parts and "stuff"  I have special tools in there and the little connical part is in that box with all the carb stuff.
