<VV> voltage regulator problem with "late model"

I've had exceptionally good results with solid state, external regulators 
(same size & mounting as with OEM electromechanical ones). Seem to pick up a 
charge at lower RPM, but clip right at the 14-Volt range.  Available from most 
local supply houses, but, for sure, from JC Whitney.  Last purchased was a 
"Transpo" brand...Transpo Site: http://www.transpo-usa.com/  Search model # D9212S.
