i think 64 used a metal spacer between the backing plate on rear. i had a 
bunch in my parts from taking many cars apart over the years.64 had a cast 
bearing housing where earlier had steel parts. i had to use spacers on my fcs when i 
built the differentials using late sleeves in early cases (because i had low 
mileage stuff from lates...longg story) to stop binding when  the 4 bearing 
nuts were tightened down.late sleeves put the bearing out about 1/4 inch farther 
that stock early.  regards, tim colson
