Smitty says:  Really pretty somple Gene.  Back off all bolts about 3/8 of
an inch.  Use a pair of big screwdrivers and place the bits under a bolt
head on each side of the center ring of bolts.  Place the shafts of the
screwdrivers on top of a pair of bolts in the outer ring as a fulcrum. 
Pressing toward the transmission with the handles will cause a "lift" on
the center bolts which will pull the pump plate up and raise the cover
plate with it.  This was written up and submitted to the Communique
complete with pictures but the powers that be apearently think no one is
interested.

My problem is removing the cover from the case. The manual says to use
slide 
> hammers and a front pump adapter (J-6585-3 ) Is there some other way as
