IF (big if) it is the seal behind the HB, which on anything else I'd call 
the "front main", it's not that hard to change. The shop manual explains it, 
or I've heard it's possible to pull the HB without dropping the back of the 
engine.  I don't think it would spray.  There's a great little pamphlet that 
the vendors have called the "Stop Lubricant Leaks Book".  One of the first 
ones I bought...anyway it says to clean the area, drive the car (or run the 
engine) and look for the source of the leak.  If your harmonic balancer has 
failed, it can cut your oil filter-that will spray.  Otherwise I'm guessing 
maybe a pinhole or leak of some kind on or near your oil pressure sender.
