Agreed that the design on the fan belt isn't wonderful, but...

Having put about 300K miles in the last 30 years between my 61 Lakewood (driven easy) and my 66 Monza (driven hard), I found that I never had a problem with the fanbelt unless it was a wrong cross section or I had it adjusted wrong. Has something changed in availability? I'm still running the same belt that went on the car during its restoration in 1985.

Now watch me throw the belt the next time I drive the 66.

My 66 leaks around the transaxle seal now, but even in the 80s I was able to keep the Lakewood sealed for what amounted to years and about 70K miles before I had to mess with it again.

My only complaint, which stirs up more fuss on both sides, is that I never did like the heater and always wanted to add a gas heater but never had the time or decent parts.
