<VV> SELECTOR SHIFTER SHAFT SEAL

Hi Everyone,
I need to replace my selector shifter seal.  I can't remove the yoke at the
end of the shaft because the the nut will not loosen  and I afraid of
breaking the nut off.  I have tied the socket over the shaft way but I can't
seam to get a flat mating because the the yoke will not move to side far
enough so I can tap it with a hammer.  I have destroyed two seals so far by
it going in uneven.  Any help would be appreciated.
