<VV> Thermostat problem

I have thermostat bellows problem .   I just bought the car and the former
owner had the jammed the exhaust duct dampers  open with pieces of wood.   I
removed the wood pieces and drove car for twenty minutes and the exhaust
duct dampers  did not open.   I had heard that there were aftermarket
bellows that fail in closed position.   So I removed bottom shrouds and
tested bellows in boiling water and  they did not move.     What temperature
should they expand at?
