The plan is to use non detergent 30w oil, changing the oil every 500 miles.
The suggestions that I have received is for the first 2000 to 2500 miles -
drive the car both city and highway, but try not to engage the turbo. Is
this a proper course of action?

I would use regular dinosaur oil. But NOT non-detergent. Buy a good 30
weight SG (or whatever the latest BEST detergent oil you can find.) Drain it and
change the filter at 500 miles. Change again at 1000 miles and add whatever you
plan on keeping in the motor. (10-30?) Change again at 2500 miles, then
every 4000 after that. Stay off the boost for the first 1000 miles. That should
do it. - Seth
