I did this on one of my 69 verts during a hot texas summer weekend.
Apparently, the towel had stiff nap and with the 100 degree plus heat, it
"embossed" the clear plastic window with the pattern of the nap.  I have
seen heavy felt used for this, but Ill never again use a towel.

2) The top and the window should be clean before dropping the top.  Unzip
the 
> window, then place a clean, dry cotton towel in the top well, place the window
